It is time to start thinking about top dressing your  wheat.   The earlier you get the fertilizer on, the better the chance for early growth and vigor.  It is always better to split the applications of fertilizer and herbicide, if possible.

If applying 2-4D with you herbicide program, make sure the wheat has four tillers.  Otherwise the 2-4D can stop the wheat from tillering, but it must be put on before joint stage.

If in an eco-fallow rotation, even if weed presures are very low, it is a good idea to use a herbicide on the wheat crop.  It will help keep you from having to immediately apply a burndown herbicide after wheat harvest.

Also before you spray, scout your field for cutworms.  If a cutworm problem has been detected, contact us and we will recommend an insecticide for you.
